Stump the pastor update
They finally stumped the pastor
Children’s time at Christ UMC is called “Stump the Pastor”.
Our pastor, Keith Harris, invites children to bring household items to the platform and he tells them a story relating to the item. Keith has always been successful in entertaining the congregation with his responses. Well recently, he admitted he was stumped. What was the item? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . A pokeman card!
Halloween visitation 2016
Christ UMC did Halloween Visitation this year
In normal church parlance, visitation usually means conveying God’s word and love to others in their homes. Here’s a twist, what if others came to you! Christ United Methodist Church took advantage of the Halloween festivities in Forsyth, GA to get others to come to us. We called it Halloween Visitation.
As young and old trick or treaters came to visit our pastor’s home, we treated them to hot dogs, snacks, beverages and a BIBLE TRACT. We included an invitation and directions to attend our church on an upcoming Sunday. Traffic through our site was great. Hopefully, we planted many “seeds” that will make a positive impact on this neighborhood.
Christ UMC has Chicken Q success
Watch how Christ UMC Forsyth put on a Chicken Q
Christ UMC, in Forsyth, GA, held it’s Fall Chicken Q on Oct. 10, 2016.
It only happens twice a year but it’s always appreciated and supported by the folks in Forsyth, GA. Christ UMC hosts a Chicken Q in the Spring and Fall of each year. This is an activity that many folks in the congregation get involved in. I put together a short video of what goes on behind the scenes.
Christ UMC Wednesday night dinners
Wednesday night dinners are a tradition at Christ United Methodist Church in Forsyth, GA. September thru June, we gather at 6 pm for a great dinner, followed by a short Bible message and then choir practice. This is a great time of fellowship and good food; it’s also a great time for visitors to meet church members in an informal setting.
During the summer months, the Christ United Methodist Church dinner club visits various local restaurants. This summer we had a lot of fun visiting places like Miss Hattie’s, Shoney’s, El Tajado, Captain D’s, and ending up the season at Smoking Pig in Macon.
Memorial Day Tribute 2016
Christ United Methodist Church’s Memorial Day Tribute
The table of remembrance.
The congregation at Christ United Methodist Church in Forsyth, GA participated in the most moving tribute to our fallen warriors that I’ve ever experienced. Upon arriving, we were greeted with with a table and chair prepared to provided someone with an elegant meal.
Our narrator read ” the white table cloth represents “purity of intent” ” and continued with an explanation of the significance of each item on the table. At the conclusion of the narration, the congregation was invited to gather round the table in remembrance of all the nations fallen warriors. Thank you Keith Harris (pastor) for organizing such a moving experience for us all.
